Introduction

Welcome to Microfluidics & Nanomechatronics Laboratory (uFNM Lab) that belongs to School of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering (Department of Mechanical Engineering, MNE, mne.unist.ac.kr) at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST, www.unist.ac.kr)

The long term research goal is to create novel micro-/nanofluidic technologies that develop a broad spectrum of interdisciplinary research fields. Currently, uFNM Lab focuses on four research fields:
  • MicroFluidics (Fluid Mechanics at Micro/Nano-scale)
  • NanoMechatronics (Automation of Micro/Nano-scale Systems and Devices)
  • Multi-physics simulation (Numerical Simulation of Fluids, Ions, Colloids, etc)
  • Printing in 2D and 3D manners (Micro/Nanofabrication)

Detailed vision of uFNM Lab. in 2016 is shown in the PDF file below.

Previous vision of uFNM Lab. in 2010, 2011, and 2012 are found in the PDF files below and listed as follows.
-- A high quality PDF file is posted at the bottom of this page.

  • Microfabricated chemical/electrical/mechanical interface systems for synthetic biology.
  • Cellular BioMEMS for cell culture, sorting, patterning and cancer cell metastasis including the study of embryo development.
  • Micro‐/nanofluidics for (bio-)molecule detection, separation and concentration.
  • Biophysical studies and mechanistic modelings of the responses of cells and proteins to mechanical and electrical disturbances.
  • Applications of microfluidic technologies to quantifying the properties of biomolecules (e.g., DNA, proteins, cells, etc).
  • Nanotechnological applications of biomolecular motors and microtubules systems for stand‐alone, self‐contained and efficient micro Total Analysis Systems (μTAS).
