Taesung Kim obtained his B.S. and M.S. degree from Seoul National University in 1997 and 1999, respectively, and received his Ph.D. degree at the University of Michigan in 2006, all from dept. of mechanical engineering. After being a research fellow at University of California at Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL, JBEI), he started his independent research career as an assistant professor since 2009 and was promoted to an associate and full professor in 2012 and 2017, respectively, at Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology. His research interests include micro-/nanofluidics, electrokinetics including experiments and numerical simulations, nanobiosensors and inkjet printing based micro-/nanofabrication. Currently, he focuses on developing practical microfluidic systems including automated chemostat/bioreactors, microfluidic high-throughput screening technologies, unconventional microfabrication for mixed-scale (micro and nanoscale) patterns and structures enabling micro-/nanofluidic array platforms, 2D/3D printing-based anti-counterfeiting technologies, and artificial gill systems, etc.
